About the Gallery

STARTUP is the first museum exhibition dedicated to the microcomputer—the little machine that revolutionized the way we live, work and play. The gallery features one-of-a-kind artifacts, video and interactive displays, including “Rise of the Machines” —an immersive multimedia theatre experience. visit photograph

Born from the desire of philanthropist and Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen to give back to the Albuquerque community where he and Bill Gates spent their early professional years starting Microsoft, the STARTUP gallery at NMMNHS will bring to life the excitement that characterized the early days of the personal computer revolution.

The STARTUP Gallery and the rest of the Museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day with these important exceptions:
The Museum is CLOSED on Thanksgiving and Christmas and non-holiday Mondays in January and September**.

The STARTUP Gallery is included with regular Museum admission. There will be timed admissions to the Gallery through December 31, 2006. The Gallery admission time will be determined when the Museum admission ticket is purchased.

Groups of at least 10 people will be able to reserve a time for admission based on the standard group admission and reservation criteria after November 26. Call Chris Sanchez at 841-2872 for all group admission and reservation information.
